FAQ

Why should we fly with you?

Our experienced pilots are dedicated to providing you the safest and most enjoyable helicopter services available in the Kansas City area. With custom flight options available, we can tailor your flight to your needs. Tell us what you need, and we will do everything we can to provide an experience of a lifetime.

What aircraft will we fly?

We only fly low hour Robinson Helicopters. They are maintained to the highest standard to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Tours and instructional flights are flown in the Robinson R44. Robinson has long been one of the most trusted names in helicopter instruction. While there are other aircraft options available for training, you will likely need a significant number of hours flying Robinsons to get hired by most employers. They also provide the most cost-efficient training available.

What if there is bad weather?

Unfortunately, even the best meteorologists are wrong sometimes. Especially in the Midwest, where weather can change rapidly, it may be necessary for us to cancel your flight due to unsafe flying conditions. Our pilots are constantly monitoring the weather and will be trusted to make the final decision whether to fly in the interest of your safety. If we need to cancel your flight due to weather, you will be contacted as soon as possible and will be able to reschedule for another date, free of charge.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance may receive a full refund or reschedule at no extra cost. Cancellations within 24 hours will receive no refund, however the tour may be rescheduled for a fee of $75.

Is it appropriate to tip the pilot?

Pilot gratuities are accepted and greatly appreciated.

Should I book my reservation in advance?

Yes, please! Aircraft are subject to routine maintenance and pilots have varying availability. We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance. If

this is not possible, we do accept short notice bookings subject to availability. Walk-ins cannot be guaranteed.

Can my child sit on my lap? How old do they have to be to fly?

Children over the age of 2 years will be required to have their own seat. Children under the age of 2 years are required to have proof of age (passport or birth certificate) to be considered a lap child.

Why do you need to know my weight?

It is both a legal requirement and good safety practice to perform a weight and balance of the aircraft before each flight. This ensures that we are within our weight and center of gravity limits as recommended by the manufacturer and FAA. Safety is and will always be our number one concern.

Can I take pictures?

Absolutely! Take as many pictures as you would like. If your flight is at night, we only ask that you turn off your flash.

What should I wear for my tour?

Wear whatever is comfortable for the current weather. We recommend but do not require closed-toe shoes.

Can I bring a drink or food on the flight?

All food and beverage is prohibited in the aircraft. If you would like to enjoy your food or drink for a special occasion with us, we have dining areas available after your flight.

What should I bring for my introductory flight?

Please bring your photo ID. You may also fill out our liability form via the website before arriving to save time. While this is all that is required, if you are wanting to log this time towards the hourly requirements to obtain your license, we will need to verify citizenship via your U.S. passport or birth certificate. Non-U.S. citizens are able to complete a discovery flight but will not be able to train towards their license until they are approved by TSA (we can help with this).

How much will it cost to get my license? How long will it take?

There is no perfect answer to this question. We can only give you our best estimate. The FAA has minimum hour requirements that we have listed in our program details. It is very uncommon to be ready to test for your license at these minimums, however, cost and speed of the program largely depend on frequency of flight. We do offer block time discounts to reduce your training costs and our professional instructors will ensure you are on the right track in all phases of your training. We can provide you with in depth pricing estimates via email or phone.

How old do you have to be to take flight lessons?

Training for licenses can begin at any age that all controls can be reached. There are age limitations to receiving your licenses, however (refer to flight instruction pages).
